Preparing Ledgers for a Reporting Commission

Which monthly close exports help a reporting view commission, and which dumps only slow the work.

Printed ledger pages and folders stacked on a Bangkok office desk

Sending five years of raw journal dumps rarely accelerates a Financial Reporting View Commission. Clarity comes from three to six clean monthly closes, a current chart of accounts, and a short note naming who reads the pages—partners, lenders, or an advisory board.

If utilization or project margin is in scope, include timesheet or job-cost exports for the same window. If cash is in scope, include receivables aging as of the latest close. Match the files to the views you want designed.

Redact client names when confidentiality requires it; keep project codes so lines still reconcile. We would rather work from redacted but consistent codes than from incomplete history.

Plan a working session after the first drafts. Views improve when a finance lead sits with the pages and marks what feels false, not when another hundred spreadsheet columns arrive by email.
